Evaluation And Assesment

As per the directions of the CBSE, the school has adopted the grading system. We have implemented the same through a process of continuous &comprehensive evaluation.
This helps the teachers to identify the area of special interest of the student and point out areas where he/she needs special guidance.
Our evaluation system is devised to develop the habit of regular, systematic and methodical work among the students. The assessment of the child is based on a cumulative record of the year's work consisting of written exercises, oral exercise, sessional project work.
The school expects 100% attendance. A student may not be allowed to appear in the annual examination in case his attendance is short.
For Classes VI-VII absence from the test in one or more subjects can debar the student from prizes and other awards. Evaluation report is sent to parents three times in a year. School adopted CCE from October 2009 in class IX and from March 2010 in classes VI to VII. The school board Assessment Card includes reporting of student's proforma in scholastic as well as co-scholastic areas in form of grades.
All the main subjects and values, outdoor activities, creative, literary and scientific skills and performing arts are covered under co-scholastic head.
Scholastic evaluation is done with the help of formative and summative assessments. Formative assessment carried out throughout the year by the teacher formally and informally will comprise of class work, homework, oral test, observation, projects, assignment short written test etc. Summative Assessment and the end of term examination, where question papers are provided to DAV schools by CBSE.
As per CCE, Academic Year for classes VI to X will have 2 terms First term is from April to September and second term is from October to March. Term I and II will have two formative and one summative assessment each.
For scholastic area, grades on a 9 point scale will be awarded and performance will be assessed using conventional numerical marking and same will be converted into grades. Students will be promoted on the basis of both Formative and Summative assessments both of which are mandatory. Certificate of continuous and comprehensive evaluation will be issued by CBSE at the end of class X.
